Paddy's & the excitement of it all

The countdown has begun...

After nearly twelve years in Ireland, I still get excited about Paddy’s day. I still vividly remember my very
first Saint Patrick ’s Day. I thought it was fascinating to see not only Irish people, but also people from all over the world gathering together to celebrate everything that have to do with being Irish.

What I find most fascinating about the whole celebration is the colours, the hat’s, the leprechaun’s, the shamrock’s, the Irish flags everywhere, the Celtic letters and the manifestation of being Irish to the core. Those colours have embraced me in such an Irish way that I honestly feel I have a little bit of green in my blood.

Usually on the day I am hangover, celebrating from the day before, in true Irish style. This year, for a change, I will be working, but I will record the parade to try to be part of excitement. I can’t wait to see the streets of the whole country covered in green.

Like previous years, a number of iconic Dublin landmarks will go green at 6pm each evening from Saturday, March 14 until Tuesday, March 17. Buildings changing colour include The Guinness Storehouse, Connolly Station, St. Patrick’s Cathedral and the National Museum of Ireland.

The main event of the celebrations, the St Patrick’s Festival Parade gets underway at 12pm on Tuesday,

March 17. Mrs Brown’s Boys star Brendan O’Carroll is this year’s Grand Marshal and has spoken of his delight at participating in the parade. Colourful floats will be joined by the bands from Ireland, Germany and the United States with 500,000 people expected to be along the route.

There will be plenty to see and enjoy. It will be an event to remember and I hope you can enjoy yourself.

Have a great time celebrating the Celtic spirit, the Irish flavour and everything that comes with it. Let your heart beat from the exciting of being more Irish than ever.

Have a Great & Happy St. Patrick’s Day
