Hello my Marlifers,
This article was first published on my LinkedIn, I hope 2021 is treating you well so far, and I hope after the Coronavirus vaccine is fully rolled out, we will be full of recoonections, joy and happiness.
This post is to say a MASSIVE thank you to everyone who have been listening to my radio show, The Marlon Show, on Dublin South 93.9FM. It has been a great adventure so far, and this adventure will only be getting better and bigger because we have been investing time and effort to make the show a significant one in the community radio sphere.
Tu put it in simple words, if you ask me what The Marlon Show is all about, I must refer to the spot-on defitinion our brand sponsor from Slingshot Graphic Desing, Luis Aviles Ortiz, who is the man behind the show's art-graphics and who explains that...
"The Marlon Show is a radio broadcast in South Dublin that is an alternative to mainstream radio, a voice for those under-represented or excluded, through training and access to radio broadcasting facilities. The Marlon Show in particular is a show of music, optisim and passion. The Marlon Show brand is reflected on its colour and form as modern, playful, passionate, energy and filled with optismism."
And he is absolutely right. I would like to add to his explanation that The Marlon Show is a show for you to Live, Love, Laugh, Sing & Dance. It is a platform for you to be who you truly are. And more so, it is also a platform for all those who need a media outlet to amplify their voice and showcase their craft, whatever that might be. The show is for you and about you, our beloved audience, and for those who would like to convey a message to create good through the airwaves.
The format...
It is quite simple. It is an hour-long show that airs every Thursday at 11:00am on Dublin South 93.9FM. However, you can listen to it on your mobile device, too. The show is a mixture of, of course, music and interviews with special guests. It also has two segments, one called "Emerging Talents", a segment for those who are starting to put their name out there through their art, whatever that artistic vein might be. The other one is called "The Me Nerves Moment With Marlon" - which is basically a member audience sharing an anecdote that is engaging, entertaining and, for the most part, funny.
I would like to think that the show is an oasis where love, happiness, valuable information, joy and fun are found.
